What is a Healthy Diet for weight loss?
What is a Healthy diet for weight loss?
Many people say they only eat healthy food and dont lose weight, which may be true. However, the common mistake is that people still eat too much, even if its healthy food.
Remember all food has energy whether it is healthy or not. If you consume too much energy than your body needs even if it is from a healthy food source you will still put on weight or struggle to lose weight.
It can be a chore to always be counting calories. This is where a knowledge of serving sizes becomes very important.
The National Health and Medical Research council has recently released the new Australian Guide to Healthy eating in 2013.
This guide comes from that old food pyramid thats been around for years from PE class. The new guide outlines how many serves from each food group you should aim for, and gives examples of what 1 serve looks like.

If you are really trying to reduce calorie intake to lose weight then you could cut grain foods back to to 5 serves. But remember Carbs are not the enemy!! Carbohydrates are the bodies preferred energy source, particularly for the brain so it is extremely important to have them despite what some popular fad diets reccomend. Just remember what one serve looks like, and how many serves is reccommended for one day.
Hope this Helps
